We've been breeding, raising, training, and working Suffolk horses since 1990. My book, Holding the Lines: Horses, Hard Work, Love, and Potatoes would not have been written had it not been for Suffolk horses.

We have been members of the ASHA since 1989. We purchased our first mare and stallion that same year. We have had over 60 foals on our farm and continue to this day breeding our Suffolks. We have sold horses all over the United States and Canada. We work our horses on the farm plowing, discing, draging, culitvating and planting. We have approxiamtely 80 acres and use both tractor and horses for our farming. We have showed our horses at county fairs, given rides for festivals, weddings, and Don has entered many plowing competition also. We showed our 2 yrs old mare Mill Road Meghan at the Royal Winter fair in 2000 . Now we have our grandson Dominic Button working with us and he enjoys the horses as much as we do. It is so nice to have young people who are interested in learning about our breed and learning how work the farm with horses.

I was born into horses, as my parents raised American Quarter Horses both for showing and racing. I got my first pony when I was 7. I've ridden and shown Hunters with my first QH and then my TB. I took up breakaway roping in 2003, and bought my current QH. We no longer rope, and he's semi-retired now at 21yrs old. I've always had a special soft spot for draft breeds and discovered the Suffolk Punch sort of by accident. I fell head over heels for them. I've decided I NEED to have one as my next riding partner, hopefully in the not too distant future.

We have a small farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where we raise and work Suffolk Punch Draft Horses. We've been doing this for the last 40 years or so. We log and farm with our horses. We try to raise as many as we can, produced from good registered Suffolk Mares bred with the best stallion we can find. Our current herd sire is the only imported, English, Suffolk Punch stallion in North America - Eyke Sovereign, ES9035 3396S is proven to reproduce and work. Our mare band is diverse and sons from just about every one could be a potential great sire for someone in North America. We would be glad to show our stock to visitors by appointment, just call ahead. Thanks, Jason Rutledge

First purchased our Suffolk horses as 8 month old fillies in December 2003. Starting as 2 year olds they were used for all types of farm work, mainly winter feeding a 700 - 800 ewe sheep flock until 2012. I have semi-retired since then and the horses are used for plowing, cutting hay, planting crops, spreading manure and anything else we need them for. We have since added a third mare and comes in handy on heavy draft work, like plowing and three abreast on a large manure spreader.
They have always been a pleasure to work with and probably the most dependable horses I have ever owned and I have had horses of various breeds my whole life.

Currently hobby-logging with a Percheron mare. In about 2025 will be moving to a larger property and expanding the business. At that time, I'll be switching over to Punches and breeding, training this incredible breed.

I work with the Berea College Forestry department in Berea KY. We are in the process of starting a horse logging program where we are using a team of Suffolk Punch mares to do sustainable horse logging on our 9,000 acre forest and we hope to expand our herd and get more Suffolk punch draft horses in the future. I am the primary care taker of the two mares that the college currently owns. the mares names are Willow of Ridgewind and Mairach Molly.

New Suffolk owner, excited to be part of the community. Looking forward to learning a lot! Planning to use the horses for some farm chores, wagon rides and public events. Currently running a "geriatric farm" where everything is old and slow!
